Section 3 of 9
Who To Talk To
Which businesses to visit
Spend your hours where they pay off. The best target isn't the "best business" â it's the one already generating the social activity MeanScoop amplifies.
Withheld while this part of the handbook is rewritten against what is approved to sell.
Target tiers
đĸ Perfect targets
High social activity + recurring events + a calendar they want to fill:
- Bars & nightclubs
- Breweries / taprooms
- Restaurants (especially with events/specials)
- Live-music & event venues
- Casinos & entertainment venues
- Activity operators (tours, rentals, experiences)
These have the cadence that makes promotion recur. Start here every day.
đĄ Good targets
Convert to ownership, rarely to a sale:
- Retail / boutiques
- Salons & spas
- Fitness / studios
- Coffee shops
Worth owning for network density. Most have no dated events, which means no paid product exists for them.
đ´ Skip for now
Low yield on your time early:
- National chains & franchises (no local decision-maker on site)
- Corporate-managed locations (marketing is centralized, not local)
- Businesses with no social presence (nothing for us to amplify â the wedge doesn't apply)
Why this list (so you can adapt it)
The product amplifies existing social activity and monetizes promotion tied to demand moments. So the ideal target is a locally-owned business that (1) is already being posted about, and (2) has busy nights worth promoting. Nightlife, food, and events check both boxes; chains and no-social businesses check neither.
These tiers are a starting hypothesis, not gospel. Recalibrate them against real Tahoe conversion data â if salons convert better than breweries in your market, move them up. Log what actually closes.
How to find them in MeanScoop
Before you walk in, check whether the business already has activity on the discovery surface â that's your demo. A venue we've already picked up mentions/events for is a much easier conversation ("you're already being discovered") than a cold one. No activity yet = either skip, or it's a signal the scraping pipeline hasn't found them (not a reason to fabricate a page).
Daily prioritization
- Perfect targets with existing MeanScoop activity â warmest possible open.
- Perfect targets nearby with no page yet â still strong; lead with the category, not the page.
- Good targets in between stops â opportunistic ownership.
- Skip the rest until you've worked the top three.
